My experience with makemytrip.com

Last week I was not keeping well and I flew to Hyderabad thinking to take some rest. I thought sitting at home I will be able to finish my other activities and spend more time with my parents and pets. But the way I planned and the way things turned are different. I thought to take a bus and go to Hyderabad on Wednesday, but thanks to makemytrip.com. There are two tickets and I tried to grab one before any one else does and I have done all the necessary things like entering credit card details, filling the forms and when I clicked it showed up with a page sorry technical error. I thought they haven’t charged for my transaction, but my friend told the transaction of money took place but booking of the ticket failed. Mean while one ticket is booked by someone else and I thought to confirm with makemytrip customer care. They asked me to call after 20 minutes as their servers are not updated with the pnr number yet. I waited for 20 mins and gave a call, the person who attended my call put me on hold for 10 minutes to retrieve the data and confirm that my ticket is not booked and money will be refunded.

I am angry badly with this kind of service and then I asked why will it take 7 days for my money to show into my account, he put me on hold for more than 15 minutes and gave a satisfactory answer. Then I checked the availability of tickets, the last ticket is also taken and I started cursing makemytrip. My friend told that redbus.com is a great place to book bus tickets and he found a bus which I wanted and booked my ticket in 10 minutes. I got a sms confirmation and an email confirmation; overall redbus.com satisfied me and my friends. My friends don’t have any experience with makemytrip but looking at my frustration and tension, they told me that they will never book tickets from makemytrip if it is an emergency journey. I tweeted about this and makemytrip responded, they asked my booking id and still I haven’t shared it with them. I will do it and if their answer is satisfactory, I might try them one more time or else it’s a good bye to makemytrip.com.

It is difficult to get that first best impression and it is applicable to all areas of business. One will never get a chance to make that first best impression and makemytrip failed doing it with me. I am not the soul customer who they will loose.
