Color run with Hyderabad Runners

I am here in Hyderabad for a personal visit & when I asked my running friend Apoorva if we can run a short distance, she said we have a color run to celebrate Holi & she will take me there. I was excited & Sarvani found a co runner for me. I haven’t met Giri before today. Apoorva picked me up at 5:15 AM & I showed up at the starting point with a determination to run 10 KM. I was little skeptical of my ability to do this distance today as I haven’t practiced running much lately & became a couch potato. I kept doing core & walked as much as I can during last few months, this gave me confidence to go ahead & try doing the 10 km.

Giri & I started slowly & tried understanding each other. As he is running first time with me, I gave him all the tips of running with me & then we spoke a lot on disability, job opportunities, swapped stories & I told him all about how I came into running. We enjoyed each step of the run & since we were running on the road my pace was little slow because I hear a vehicle I slow down. I did run walk at few points when I thought I was tired & the goal is to finish strong.

The entire Hyderabad runner’s supported me & Giri through out the run & even applied colors to our faces on our way. We finished the run by sprinting to the finish line & enjoyed hot yummy breakfast.

Thing that keeps me sane is running & by doing today’s run reminded of me not able to run even 100 meters in 2012. Because I found some amazing people who want to be my co runners, I was able to do this.

And yes Giri & I decided to run Hyderabad Airtel Marathon this year. We will do bit of fund raising for the causes we believe in.
