Non-Profit Marketing in India

Non-Profit Marketing is one of those wrongly understood concepts in the online marketing space. Generally, more often than not,we tend to neglect people working for non-profit organizations and regard them without respect or dignity. This might be due to the misconception that non profits are money making machines and are formed to gain donations and to ‘enjoy’ that money; in other words, use the money obtained from donors for other expenses or entertainment rather than the purpose for which it is intended and for which reason the NGO was formed. But this is not the real situation at a lot of non profits. They do a lot of credible work and unfortunately, that work is not projected properly due to lack of resources or understanding.Clearly, I am speaking about countries such as India where social stigma is attached to NGO’s and people are more often valued by the salaries they draw rather than the value addition they impart to the society.

However, situation is changing rapidly and this is one area which is a niche market and is not explored by many marketers.
During 2010 February, I heard about Beth Kanter who visited India and was amazed about how she is using social media and technology to evangelize non profits in the West, in turn giving them a media outreach. Her web log bethkanter.org is a resource hub for any one who wants to step into non profit marketing transform the society with technology as powerful weapon.

I strongly felt that this is the arena I would like to grow in and I am in the process of finally getting things done. With in few days, I will be launching my new blog digitalchallenger.com which is hugely concentrated on the non profit marketing and also about my agenda of the projects/ workshops which I will be conducting in the next few months.

My first podcast will be up

Hi folks after a great week end I am back here to share my insides of what happened during the week end and what is going happen…….As I told in my earlier posts that I am going to start off with podcasting and video casting, I think the time has come that I must kick off and start some where. So I am starting my podcasting and I would like all of my readers to be a part of this.

There are couple of changes going on the blog design too. One of my friend from tqphosting is working on the blog theme and design. I replaced my earlier theme with cool looking light weight theme for now , which helps my readers to read the posts more conveniently than before. I am working towards my logo and integration of social platforms too.

The first podcast is going to be all about me, what I do and how you all can be part of my future podcasting shows. there is a lot of activity which I would like to share……….but in my nexts posts.

Hi all I thought to give heads up of what is “OMEBANg” an event conducted every month in Bangalore by Suresh and Shiv. It was started exactly 4 months back and I have been to the 3rd meet up and became a part of the family immediately. It was an amazing place to be and people from different backgrounds come to this meet up to learn, share, express etc their views on online marketing. As the tends show that digital media marketing is one of the most fastest growing industries and there have been a considerable growth in areas of blogging, social media, content sharing etc.

Online marketing is the future of marketing for any kind of products and I see that there is lot of miss conceptions too. When I was there last month I met lot of experienced and newbie online marketers who are sharing tons of info which improved my knowledge on online marketing. Last month the theme was pay per click in short form know as PPC which I really don’t understand/ignore as my experts is in the area of organic traffic rankings. But I learned a lot from the presentation like how to use Google trends more effectively and how to use spyfu keyword tool. My observations On Recent Google Changes

Few months back google announced that they are going to update their search algorithms and I think they named it as kaffeine update. People are worried of their rankings, but google announced this particular update is to make indexing more faster. Later they introduced live searche results by partnering with twitter and showing the tweets in the searches. This was a major change in google search pphenominan and hit the market. I thought to list out my observations here on google

1. Google is giving importance to content and solutions. Search results are more of forums, blogposts, answers etc.
2. Google is looking more at user generated content and designed their algorithm in such a way they can reduce the spam too. For example twitter conversations.
3. Google is giving importance to social media conversations and the importance of the content generated in those conversation like social networking groups, wikis etc.
4. I have seen triple intended listings, that means three listings of same website, blog appearing in same search result page.
5. Video’s are being shown depending the topic and how close the search result is.
6. Web2.0 properties like hubpages and squidoo are gaining importance in search results.
7. Link spam is being figured out and all the paid links are not valid any more.

Google is indexing the web more faster as they promised. I am able to see that my blog post is indexed in 2 minutes and started appearing in search results. I have no idea how google is going to evolve, but the latest buzz of social media is showing that to get traffic no need to rely on google any more.
